The fact sheets accompanying the inventoried and mapped sites are published in two different formats and on two partner websites:
They are published twice per week, on Monday and Wednesday. The files are written in French, English, and Arabic, but translations will be published only after they have been verified and certified by the Scientific Committee.
All Reading in Gaza fact sheets are the result of collaborative research using a variety of sources. The initial template for the files was inspired by the work of the team behind Gaza Histoire: inventaire d’un patrimoine bombardé. We would like to express our warmest thanks to them, as they have been a great inspiration to us.
Sources consulted and used
- Testimonies: direct testimonies, written or photographed (by Reading in Gaza contributors), and indirect testimonies (collected by telephone and in writing).
- Written and audiovisual information: mainly open source, available in all institutional or journalistic reports and inventories already produced on this subject. A bibliography that is as comprehensive as possible and will be updated regularly is currently being compiled.
- Print media and traces collected on social media, widely use to communicate information.
For each file, the information has been verified multiple times by members of the Reading in Gaza team’s Scientific Committee.
The sources used are always explicitly indicated in the file for consultation. It is always possible that some digital links may become fragile over time, which is why we now also archive the content to which they refer.
The research behind the files will be regularly updated and corrected (the dates and nature of the updates will always be indicated on the file).
